Where are you from and what is your current place of work?
I was born and raised in Fernie, BC. I am the co-owner of No 3 Salon there and am professionally trained as a makeup artist, esthetician and hair stylist at both John Casablancas and Blanche Macdonald.
What inspired you to be a makeup artist?
Many influential people have inspired me on this path. At a young age, my Mother opened a boutique in our beautiful ski town. From there she began to carry cosmetics and had some amazing people come in and train the staff on the various lines of makeup brands we carried in the store. Watching all the makeup artists be so passionate about what they do is what kick started my desire to become a makeup artist too!
What are some of your favourite makeup looks?
I love a soft eye with winged liner (cat eye) and to finish the look with a nice bold lip. My second favourite look is the opposite: a dramatic smoky eye with a soft, nude, pink lip.
Do you have a signature makeup style and if so, what is it?
Helping people look and feel beautiful in their own skin would be my signature style. My most requested appointments are for bridal makeup application. I take this opportunity to really focus on the natural beauty of my brides.
Please share with us your experience of this photoshoot.
I had an awesome time with my photographer Jodi Nesbitt and my two gorgeous models, Taryn and Jessica. We went to many of my favourite spots around the Elk Valley and had many laughs.
What are some of your favourite Amaterasu products?
The Liquid Eyeliner has always been a favourite of mine with the Liquid Brow Liner coming in as a close second! Amaterasu Beauty has fun geisha makeup to express yourself in different ways and paraben free makeup including paraben free liquid eyeliner.
If you could give one piece of beauty advice, what would it be?
Never overdo it. Simplicity is sexy.
What does “empowering beauty everywhere” mean to you?
To me, it means to be able to share my idea of beauty with my clients, and to help them cultivate inner beauty from within with their own personal touch.
