What is a brow pen and how do I use it?

How difficult it is to use a brow pen?

A brow pen is designed to mimic the appearance of natural brow hairs. It typically has a very fine, precise tip that allows for drawing hair-like strokes. The formula is often long-wearing and smudge-proof, making it ideal for filling in sparse areas, defining the shape of the brows, and adding realistic texture.

To use a brow pen:

  1. Start with clean, dry brows: Ensure your brows are free of any oils or creams for better product adherence. Using blotting paper or lightly applying loose powder to the brow prior to application is a major game changer.

  2. Brush brows into place: Use a spoolie brush to comb your brow hairs upwards and outwards, following their natural growth pattern. This helps to reveal any sparse areas.

  3. Draw hair-like strokes: Using light, feathery strokes, begin to draw individual hairs in the direction of your natural hair growth. Focus on areas where you want to add fullness or definition. Avoid pressing too hard, as this can create an unnatural, drawn-on look.

  4. Build up intensity gradually: It's easier to add more product than to remove it. Start with a lighter hand and build up the intensity as needed.

  5. Define the tail and arch (optional): If you desire more defined brows, use the pen to lightly sculpt the tail and the arch, creating a clean, crisp line.

  6. Blend (optional): After applying, you can lightly brush through your brows with a clean spoolie to soften any harsh lines and distribute the product for a more natural finish.

  7. Set (optional): For extra longevity, you can set your brows with a clear brow gel.
